Before lockdown, a working group of Parish Councillors prepared a detailed report on Newburgh roads to address two questions:
- Can the volume of traffic particularly HGVs be controlled/reduced on the A5209? and
- Can the road be made safer for pedestrians and motorists?
The report was submitted to Lancashire County Council (LCC) in June 2021 via our WLBC Councillor, Eddie Pope and LCC Councillor Rob Bailey. The report covers traffic volumes, impact of HGVs on our roads and on pedestrians, road widths, pavements and crossings, speeding, alternative HGV routes and earlier responses from LCC. It presents conclusions and proposals for discussion with LCC and the Police. A paper copy is available from the clerk or you can see a copy of the report by clicking on the link below.
