15 December 2016

Come along and join in singing your favourite Christmas Carols accompanied by Coppull & Standish Brass Band.  The service will be held in the Church in the event of bad weather.

Dear Resident

The Parish Council has continued to monitor planning applications in the village.  As you may know the strawberry field site has changed hands and an open day was held by the new owner to publicise his plans for future development.  I attended and the feedback from local people was generally positive.  The Council will consider a response if a planning application in relation to the site does come forward.
After the floods over last Christmas, we agreed to liaise with Borough and County Councils to improve their response to residents who were in danger of being flooded.  The County Council has subsequently produced a leaflet on the subject which includes emergency telephone numbers for the agencies involved.  While this is available to view on the Council’s website we felt it important that this information was communicated to all village residents and we enclose a copy with this newsletter.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Kind regards
Jacky Citarella

Newburgh School News
It’s hard to believe that Christmas is nearly with us again and school is looking wonderful with all the decorations up. This year we had a tree up early and placed gift tags on it with Boy or Girl and an age. Each child was asked to take a tag home and buy/donate a new gift suitable for that age wrapped and with the tag on. The intention is to donate them to Tawd Vale Lions who get called upon to help local children at Christmas, a wonderful cause and it’s good to help out locally.

We recently received a letter from Nick Gibb MP Minister of State for School Standards to congratulate us for being in the top 3% of schools in the country. Whilst this is a fantastic achievement and we are rightly proud of it, of utmost importance to everyone at Newburgh School is that our children are happy and enjoying life at school.

The Nursery and Reception Nativity will take place on 9th December at 2:30 and once again will take place on our school field (weather permitting). The rest of the school will be performing in Alice’s Winter Wonderland on Tuesday 20th December at 2:30 & 6:30 and Wednesday 21st at 6:30. Added to this we have our annual visit to the pantomime, Christmas Parties, Christmas jumper day and a Christmas movie night.

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone a Joyous Christmas and a very happy New Year.
God Bless, Janice Reynolds
