NEWBURGH NEWS December 2014

Hi Everyone

To continue our work in commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of World War 1, the Council has acquired a grant to enable the up-dating of the village Roll of Honour, held at Parbold library.

In September, following an inspection by West Lancashire Borough Council which identified disease, the large tree opposite the Post Office was taken down by Lancashire County Council.  We were grateful for their prompt response to what was potentially a dangerous situation.

The year moves on apace and already Christmas is just around the corner.  This newsletter includes details of various seasonal events taking place.  The Council and Church will hold the annual Carols on the Green service on 18th December starting at 7.15pm.  This is a most enjoyable, traditional occasion and I do hope many of you will be able to come and join us.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Kind regards
Jacky Citarella
Chairman

 Newburgh School News
We finally got to bury our time capsule, later than planned due to a series of delays. The Mayor and the Forces Champion were in attendance and despite the weather we managed for every child to be involved in the burial.
I can hardly believe that we are approaching Christmas already; it’s true what they say life does speed up as you get older. Needless to say there is already the usual excitement and preparations going on. We have a Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 performance of “Santa’s on Strike” and a Nursery and Reception Nativity. As well as this we have our usual visit to the pantomime in Southport to see Sleeping Beauty and our Christmas parties, with a visit from Father Christmas for the younger children.
As we move into 2015 we continue to take on the challenges of the New National Curriculum, whilst maintaining our creativity and rich varied activities.
May I take this opportunity to wish you a Joyful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Janice Reynolds
